We Just Bought One Of The Best Crags at Index—Now We Need Your Help

On November 6, 2023, we closed on a property that spans the Lower Lump and Inner Walls, including the upper Beetle Bailey slab, the top pitches of the Walking Legend area, all of the Field of Dreams area, and the Toxic Shock and Foodbar areas at the Inner Walls.

This critical swath of land includes some of the most popular moderate trad and sport climbs at Index! As such, this is a huge conservation win for us at the Washington Climbers Coalition (WCC), and Washington climbers in general.

Access Fund gave us a $100,000 loan to help make this purchase, now we are asking you to help us pay off the loan.

Why?

Because we can’t do it all on our own. This is a community effort, and WCC is a community organization. We all work together to steward and preserve access to Washington’s incredible climbing resources.

So join us! Help us reach our funding goal of $100,000. Simply fill out the donation form to the right, and pitch in whatever you can. Every little bit helps.

Just imagine the sense of pride you will feel next time you’re climbing Toxic Shock, Walking Legend, Summer Begins, or any of the excellent routes at this newly protected part of Index, and you remember—that’s right, I helped ensure permanent access to this climb.

Thank you so much for your support, now and always. Happy climbing,

– WCC
